Traditional jeepney drivers in the city have voiced strong opposition to the implementation of the service contracting program, citing widespread delays in the release of financial aid and fuel subsidies.

Speaking to Bombo Radyo CDO, Emmanuel Espinosa, president of the Bonbon Drivers Association (BONODA), said that many drivers remain excluded from the benefits promised under the scheme.

Espinosa explained that the flawed system of distribution has left several drivers struggling to make ends meet, with some receiving no assistance at all and others only partial support.

He added that the reliance on digital platforms for subsidy distribution has raised concerns within the transport sector, as it could open the door to new forms of corruption.

According to BONODA, the lack of clear and consistent support from both local and national programs has worsened the plight of drivers, who continue to face mounting economic hardships.
