The Lakas-CMD party has expressed strong support for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
According to Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, nearly 95% of party members favor the move. With around 69–70 members in the House, the party’s backing is considered solid, especially since the chairperson of the House Committee on Justice and several endorsers of the complaint are from Lakas-CMD.
Adiong added that beyond their own ranks, an estimated 200 lawmakers are expected to vote in favor of impeachment.
On Monday, the party is set to mobilize its full force to push for the removal of an official they believe has violated Philippine law. In the plenary, at least one-third of the votes or 106 “yes” votes are required to draft the articles of impeachment for transmission to the Senate.
Earlier, the National Unity Party (NUP) also announced that 60% of its members have signified support for impeaching Vice President Duterte.
