The House Prosecution Panel raised concerns over the use of confidential funds for surveillance activities focused mainly on the Vice President’s travels.
Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong stressed that most of the activities were concentrated on providing security during the Vice President’s visits, citing as an example the large allocation for security during a bridge inauguration in Davao City.
He emphasized that the primary purpose of confidential funds is to safeguard national security, not personal protection. Adiong underscored that the allocation of funds must return to proper reasoning and logic to ensure that public money truly benefits and serves the Filipino people.
