President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. formally opened the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, highlighting the Philippines’ renewed role as ASEAN Chair.
He emphasized the theme “Navigating Our Future Together” as a call for unity and regional resilience.
The President outlined priorities such as bolstering energy and food security, supporting farmers and MSMEs, and safeguarding ASEAN nationals overseas. He also reaffirmed ASEAN’s centrality in addressing shared challenges and opportunities.
A historic milestone was marked with the formal welcome of Timor-Leste as a full-fledged ASEAN member.
The Summit sets the tone for a people-centered future anchored on cooperation and prosperity across Southeast Asia.
