CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Northern Mindanao has confirmed a security breach on its official Facebook page.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, PDEA-10 Regional Director Benjie Gaspe promptly alerted their Information Officer and staff to assess the situation.
Gaspe is considering extending a “show cause order” to the social media unit responsible for managing the page.
The investigation will focus on potential negligence by the page administrators, which may have allowed hackers to compromise the agency’s social media account.
If internal efforts fail to resolve the issue, PDEA-10 may seek assistance from experts at the Police Regional Office -10 Anti-Cyber Crime Unit.
President Bongbong Marcos has emphasized the importance of safeguarding government websites against cyber threats. The incident serves as a reminder of the critical role agencies play in maintaining online security.
Notably, PDEA-10’s Facebook page has been marred by the posting of obscene videos during this breach.
