Roads and Traffic Administrator (RTA) Overseer Kagawad Eric Salcedo has warned that he will recommend the highest possible penalty against RTA enforcers proven to be drug users, whether employed as job order workers or regular staff at City Hall.
This comes after the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Region X (PDEA-X) released results of a surprise drug test showing that out of 161 personnel tested, nine were positive for shabu use and one for marijuana.
Salcedo stressed that such findings are a disgrace to the city, especially with enforcers tasked to uphold discipline on the roads. He added that it reflects poorly on City Hall for hiring individuals involved in illegal drugs.
While firm on imposing strict sanctions, Salcedo emphasized that due process will be observed in line with Civil Service rules, as part of their campaign to maintain a drug-free workplace.
