Senator Rodante Marcoleta has pressed the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) to explain their lack of action in verifying data he presented showing cheaper oil supply from Singapore.

During a Senate hearing, Marcoleta demanded reports and responses from oil companies after revealing that industry profits have reached nearly ₱3 billion per day since fuel prices surged.

He confirmed that oil prices in Singapore were significantly lower—around ₱43 per liter—suggesting that some groups may be taking advantage of the situation.

The senator also called on the agencies to clarify the continued importation of coal products despite the country’s limited supply, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in energy policy.
