The Supreme Court has denied Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s petition to stop the possible implementation of an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
According to Atty. Eddie Cuaresma, former IBP MisOr-CDO Chapter President, this denial could also extend to the senator’s main petition.
He explained that the Court did not find a clear and indisputable legal right to prevent the potential arrest.
Cuaresma added that in most cases, when a temporary restraining order (TRO) is denied, the main case is usually dismissed as well, though reversals remain possible.
The ruling shows that the Supreme Court did not see sufficient urgency or legal basis to halt actions against the senator.
While there is still a chance for the decision to change, Cuaresma noted that the likelihood of a favorable outcome for Dela Rosa has now become slimmer.
