The United Peoples Initiative (UPI) is closely watching members of the Senate majority following reports that some have been persuaded to shift to the minority bloc.
According to Captain Rey Valeros Jr., UPI’s secretary general, senators in the majority are under heavy pressure regarding whether they will change their stance on the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Valeros explained that it is not surprising if some senators are being urged to switch positions, since those in the minority are known allies of the Duterte family.
Despite this, he expressed hope that Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano will remain fair in presiding over the trial and ensure that Vice President Duterte is given a proper hearing.
