The spokesperson of City Mayor Uy clarified that the Cagayan de Oro local government has no issues in paying workers involved in garbage collection.
In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, Janboy Actub explained that the reported salary concerns of drivers and collectors were not due to a lack of city funds but stemmed from internal problems within the third-party contractor hired for waste management.
He identified Standard Systems Water and Wastewater Technologies Inc. as the company handling parts of the city’s waste collection operations, where the issue originated.
Actub emphasized that if the contractor fails to continue its services, the city’s Task Force Basura is ready to step in to ensure uninterrupted garbage collection.
He further clarified that the city government has no salary arrears and should not be linked to the contractor’s internal disputes.
