At least 30 bodies were recovered after unknown gunmen attacked Angwan Rukuba in Nigeria’s Plateau State late Sunday.

Police spokesperson Alabo Alfred said some victims were found in nearby bushes during security operations to track the assailants.

The attackers reportedly opened fire indiscriminately on residents in Jos North Local Government Area.

Authorities described the incident as “unfortunate” and confirmed joint police and military patrols are ongoing to arrest suspects.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. In response, the Plateau State government imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North beginning Monday.
