The Federation of Free Workers (FFW) expressed disappointment over this year’s Labor Day observance, citing the absence of a formal meeting between President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and labor leaders a tradition upheld by past administrations every May 1.
In an interview with FFW president Atty. Sonny Matula, he stressed that such dialogue is crucial for the President to directly hear the realities and challenges faced by workers.
While there were some informal exchanges, Matula said these fell short of meaningful engagement, as no structured discussion took place to address programs and solutions for the labor sector.
The FFW has called on the administration to schedule a formal dialogue, emphasizing that active participation and deeper understanding of workers’ concerns are essential in shaping government labor policies.
