Former Misamis Oriental Vice Governor Joey Pelaez had only one reaction to the recent plenary voting on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte: “money and resources wins.”
Speaking to Bombo Radyo, Pelaez said he believes financial influence played a decisive role in the overwhelming vote at the House of Representatives.
According to him, some solons may have been swayed by promises of projects, aid, and additional budget allocations for their districts.
He further explained that there are allegations some legislators feared losing government projects if they did not support the impeachment vote.
Pelaez emphasized that most district congressmen prioritize bringing in major infrastructure and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projects to their constituencies, which is why many chose to vote for impeachment rather than heed the voice of the people.
