The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) believes that the recent shooting incident, which led to a lockdown in the Senate, will have no direct impact on the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, IBP national president Atty. Allan Panolong explained that, from his legal perspective, the event was an isolated incident—the first of its kind within the institution.

He expressed confidence that Senate leadership will implement additional measures to strengthen security for upcoming proceedings. Panolong emphasized that responsibility should not rest solely on the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, but must involve cooperation with law enforcement agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

He further underscored the importance of heightened security during sensitive processes like impeachment trials, to ensure the safety of senators, prosecutors, and all participants.

Panolong noted that the presence of different groups of supporters for each official could affect the security environment, making vigilance and preparedness essential.
