Tita Hadman from the Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) labor group dismissed the Marcos administration’s new “UPLIFT” program.
According to Hadman, it is just additional aid for people in need, but it is not a real solution to the problem of low wages for workers.
The group also criticized the program because the President’s SONA is approaching, and it is clearly being used to mask the government’s shortcomings and failures in solving the country’s real problems.
Instead of relying solely on aid, the group insists that farmers and workers need fair wages and affordable prices for goods.
