Dr. Mark Miso, Medical Officer of DepEd CDO, clarified that the deworming program has not yet started in the city’s public schools while they wait for a formal advisory from the Department of Health.

The official assured that the tablets are safe for children and that strict protocols will be implemented, specifically requiring formal consent from parents or guardians.

Additionally, the agency advises that children must have a full stomach before taking the medication to avoid any adverse reactions, such as stomach pain or vomiting.

While waiting for the official order, Dr. Miso also encouraged schools to take the initiative in preparing food for students on the day the activity is implemented.
