City Councilor George Christopher Goking, in his special report during the regular City Council session yesterday, stressed that the issue of faded pedestrian lanes and poor street lighting is not just about paint or infrastructure but about public safety.

He pointed out that the condition of worn‑out and unclear pedestrian lanes across the city has become serious, especially at night and during rainy weather. Goking explained that some crossing areas are poorly lit, making it difficult to see pedestrians and increasing the risk of road accidents.

To address these concerns, he proposed regular repainting of pedestrian lanes, the use of reflective materials, installation of additional lighting, and the conduct of road safety audits.

He also urged stronger coordination among concerned offices to ensure the safety of pedestrians throughout the city.
