Former Misamis Oriental Vice Governor Joey Pelaez criticized the national government for rising debt coupled with underspending on essential public infrastructure projects.

Pelaez argued that spending on economic drivers—such as school facilities and public works comparable to the previous administration’s “Build, Build, Build” initiative—has been slashed instead of expanded.

He raised concern over uninspected confidential funds, citing ₱10 billion at the presidential level, ₱210 million allocated to Misamis Oriental, and ₱450 million to Cagayan de Oro, questioning if these funds are being leveraged for political campaigns.
