CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Israel to promote a U.S.-backed cease-fire proposal in Gaza.

His arrival was met with shock as Hamas militants claimed responsibility for attacking Tel Aviv just moments later.

Blinken met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, and several top officials from the Defense Ministry.

“This is a decisive moment — probably the best, maybe the last, opportunity to get the hostages home, to get a cease-fire, and to put everyone on a better path to enduring peace and security,” Blinken said Monday.

After meeting with the prime minister, Blinken announced that Israel accepts the bridging proposal.

It is now incumbent upon Hamas to do the same.
