Governor Henry Oaminal, chairman of the Regional Development Council (RDC‑10), emphasized ongoing efforts to increase Mindanao’s allocation in the national budget, citing the region’s strong contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

He noted that Northern Mindanao and other parts of the island are the second‑largest contributors to the Philippines’ GDP, yet they only receive 15 percent from the General Appropriations Act.

Oaminal highlighted that the region accounts for 21 percent of GDP while representing a population of 26 million, making the current allocation inequitable.

He also pointed to the support of regional line agencies and economic development offices in strengthening program and project implementation.

The RDC‑10 aims to raise Mindanao’s budget share to 21–22 percent to accelerate regional growth.
