CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Councilor Eric Salcedo dismissed as “pure fake news” reports claiming that provincial residents would be barred from entering Cagayan de Oro under the city’s transport ordinance.

He clarified that such a rule would be illegal and a serious violation.

The ordinance only requires that public utility vehicles from the eastern and western parts of the region stop at designated terminals.

To assist commuters, the local government has coordinated with the LTFRB to review fare structures.

As a result, fares on routes such as Igpit-Tagoloan to Bulua are expected to decrease, since charges will now be based on actual kilometer distance rather than additional fees.
