Threats have a major impact on the credibility and moral authority of a public official, especially when they come from someone tasked with protecting lives, such as a Vice President.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, catechist Bro. Wilson Amad stressed that if an official can threaten the most powerful person in the country, it becomes even easier to threaten ordinary citizens and the poor who rely on government support.
He added that any form of violence disrupts national harmony and endangers peace.
Thus, Amad considered Vice President Sara Duterte’s statements against the First Family and former Speaker Martin Romualdez as a serious blow to her credibility, saying that even if they were made out of anger, they still violated the basic principle of public service.
