Misamis Oriental Provincial Board Member Dexter Yasay laughed off the remarks made by Governor Juliette Uy during the flag ceremony on Monday, where his name and that of Board Member Romel Maslog were singled out and accused of undermining the administration through the mining issue in the province.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Yasay said he no longer understands whether the provincial capitol is functioning as a government office or has turned into a marketplace.
Despite the governor’s claim that the provincial board is uncooperative, Yasay said they accepted her criticisms. He also expressed surprise at being mentioned during the ceremony, stressing that his only role was to propose solutions to clarify the alleged illegal mining activities in Initao.
Yasay hopes the issue will soon be resolved and that those who violated the law through illegal mining will be held accountable, as it is ultimately the people who suffer from the situation.
