CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Incident Management Team (IMT) now reactivated to ensure the public safety of Christian devotees that visited to different religious sites situated in Cagayan de Oro City.
This after Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno released his executive order in relation to the observance of the Holy Week where thousands of Catholic devotees expected to visit the popular Mount Malasag in Barangay Cugman and Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine situated in the boundary of Tablon and Balubal village in the city.
City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) officer-in- charge Nick Jabagat said over Bombo Radyo CdeO that activation of IMT has primary purpose of ensuring the swift action of all government agencies who will put on guard the peace and order situation in the city while religious traditions are being observed by the faithful.
Meanwhile,Cugman Barangay chairperson Wendelyn Escobia and Tablon Barangay chairman Billy Kid Auza both said that they are ready to give enough security to the visitors who will stay in their religious sites even after the holy week observance.
To recall,both Malasag and Guadalupe hosted thousands of devotees who constantly do novenas and prayers during their visits in the area.
On the other hand,Misamis Oriental Gov Bambi Emano put the whole province to code blue alert effective this dawn.
According to Misamis Oriental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Fernando Dy Jr,many of their personnel and force multipliers are now distributed to respective sites that are expected to be visited by the local and foriegn visitors.
Dy admitted that the Sipaka Heights of Talisayan town and Divine Mercy Shrine of El Salvador City both in Misamis Oriental are given enough security due to the influx of visitors.
Both Moreno and Emano are hopeful that there will be no untoward incidents relative to the observance of the religious practice by the Catholics in the region.
