University of the East political science professor Eric de Torres has raised concerns over the manner in which lawmakers handled the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.

He described the proceedings before the House Justice Committee as “questionable” and riddled with defects.

Speaking to BOMBO RADYO CDO, De Torres emphasized that legislators should remain objective in their judgment, mindful that their decision will shape their own political futures.

He noted that unlike former President Rodrigo Duterte, who left office with an 83 percent trust and approval rating, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has faced declining public support.

According to De Torres, this contrast underscores the need for lawmakers to weigh their actions carefully, as the impeachment process carries significant implications not only for the Vice President but also for the broader political landscape.
