Division Federated Supreme Secondary Learner Government President Gayle G. Escobido is advocating for peer‑led tutoring programs in schools to help students improve their learning and raise the overall quality of education.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Escobido explained that the initiative was inspired by the disappointing EDCOM 2 PISA results, which revealed a decline in literacy and numeracy skills compared to the Department of Education’s expectations.
She emphasized that peer‑led tutoring aims to change how students view their classmates not just as fellow learners in the classroom, but as partners in studying and growth.
Escobido highlighted that this approach benefits not only those struggling in certain subjects but also creates a “win‑win situation.” Students who tutor their peers gain confidence and leadership skills, while those receiving support improve academically.
