The PN ROA Canitoan Transport Cooperative (PONTRANSCO) expressed deep concern over the current state of the government’s service contracting program.

According to Luzminda Escobidal, president of the cooperative, while the program initially showed positive outcomes from Phase 1 to Phase 5, serious issues have now emerged affecting transport cooperatives.

Based on Senate discussions, a fund amounting to ₱760 million was allocated with a target of 50,000 units, but in reality, fewer than 12,000 units benefited.

Escobidal explained that this gap between the projected figures and actual implementation has caused many cooperatives to suffer losses and face difficulties in sustaining their operations.

She called for a review and reform of the service contracting system to ensure fairness and genuine benefits for transport cooperatives nationwide.
