Patrick Allan Callanta, Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer of OCD-10, announced that their office is actively implementing measures to prepare for the impacts of El Niño. In line with RDRRMC Advisory Number 2026-12 issued on March 31, all local government units and partner agencies have been urged to intensify their mitigation and preparedness activities.
Callanta emphasized that continuous monitoring of weather conditions, water and power supply, and timely dissemination of accurate information to the public are being carried out to prevent risks such as heat stroke and forest fires.
Relevant agencies have already convened for a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment to discuss strategies in addressing potential water shortages and reduced agricultural yield.
The Task Force El Niño is also ensuring close coordination in cascading advisories to communities, aiming to safeguard public welfare during the drought season.
