Financial analyst Rogel Morales confirmed that after four decades of effort, the Philippines has finally entered the entry level of the upper middle-income bracket, with gross national income per capita rising to $4,850.
However, Morales clarified that this figure only reflects an “average level” and does not mean that all Filipino families are enjoying the benefits.
He pointed out that many ordinary workers still fail to reach an annual income of ₱250,000 due to the wide gap in wealth distribution.
Morales likened the situation to rainfall pouring only in one area while the rest of the country suffers drought and poverty.
He stressed that this poses a major challenge for both government and the private sector to work together in ensuring that economic progress becomes truly inclusive and beneficial to all sectors of society, not just the wealthy few.
