The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) urged residents to maintain emergency water storage at home to mitigate fire risks and cope with extreme summer temperatures.
Cagayan de Oro District Fire Marshal Fire Senior Superintendent Rey Lorono noted that stored water serves daily household needs while providing immediate reserves for community bucket relays during structural fires.
Lorono confirmed that station fire trucks are routinely inspected, fully filled, and kept mission-ready.
He also reminded both personnel and the public to stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion under elevated heat index levels.
