CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) confirms the destructive attack on private farms and government facilities in Barangay Sto. Niño in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, late Tuesday evening.
Police Lt. Colonel Surki Serenias, spokesperson of PR0-10 said, the members of Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army Terrorists (CNTs) was thwarted when a concerned citizen tipped police of the presence of heavily armed NPA’s at Sitio Aurora of the said village.
Accordingly, a joint PNP and AFP troops immediately responded which lasted to a few minutes of firefight when the militants harassed a “barangay tanod” in the area.
Fortunatly, Manolo Fortich Police Station chief Police Lt. Colonel Duphar Chris Cuaresma confirmed that no one from the authorities, was hurt after the encounter.
Police recovered several fired cartriges of cal.45, AK-47, M-16 assault rifles in the crime scene, including two (2) L300 vans, one (1) Izusu Elf truck, one (1) Toyota Hilux pick up truck, two (2) motorcycles intentionally burned down by the retreating NPA.
The said vehicle were supposed to be used in the NPA attack.
Police is conducting investigation to trace the vehicles record.
Police also disclosed that the heavily armed NPA is planning to harass private farms and vulnerable government installation in the area in connection with their extortion activity.
Pursuit and clearing operation is on-going.
