“Do not run a business if you cannot afford to pay proper wages,” declared Milo Basuel of Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK), criticizing employer challenges surrounding Article 126 of the Labor Code.
Basuel stated that court injunctions in Pasig and Navotas halting the approved ₱85 wage hike place severe financial stress on millions of minimum wage earners across Metro Manila.
He rejected employer claims that the wage increase inflicts extensive contractual damages, calling judicial maneuvers to stall pay adjustments an unfair exploitation of legal mechanisms at the expense of workers.
