Wilson Amad, convenor of the Peoples Constitutional Reform Initiative (PCRI), criticized what he described as the government’s lack of seriousness in developing the country’s fuel resources, a long-standing issue across different administrations.

In his interview with Bombo Radyo, he reminded that since crises such as the Iraq war, the Philippines has still failed to fully develop its local energy sources that could have reduced dependence on imported petroleum.

He also pointed out that one solution is to bring in private experts to manage government-owned and controlled corporations through management arrangements, ensuring efficient and professional operations.

According to him, the lack of good governance and technology in the country is the main reason why the Philippines has failed to develop its own fuel resources.

Finally, he suggested forging partnerships with other nations for technology transfer to strengthen the Philippines’ capacity in the energy sector.
